Missing Icons on desktop-windows vista?

    I'm not sure how it happened but all the icons i.e. internet explorer, recycle bin, computer etc.. have all disappeared from my desktopm. I have gone into control panel and reselected the icons to appear but when I go back to my desktop it's still blank?

    Any ideas how to get them back???

    try right clicking the desktop / personalize and then choose desktop icons
    from the top left. select what you what there and see if it works if not try
    restore defaults.

    There's an option in Vista that lets you change which directory is used as the desktop directory. If you change it to something else, that other directory won't have any links in it so you won't see any icons. I think you can fix this with:

    Right Click on desktop >Properties>Location tab>Restore Default button according to google.
