Solemnisers for Civil Weddings

Righto, we don't want a church wedding, so we're taking advantage of the change in law which allows us to have a civil wedding in a hotle. Grand! However I'm trying to figure out if we can have the local priest as our solemniser at the ceremony or does it have to be a non-religious facilitator? Any help would be greatly…

Righto,

Any solemniser can do the ceremony, their religious affiliation is irrelevant. Though you may have trouble convincing the priest to perform a civil ceremony.
