Anyone know when it is possible to do this? I just passed my 70-620 vista exam earlier and am trying to decide whether I should just concentrate on my CCNA now and hold out for server 2008 exams to be part of the MCSA/MCSE or just do the server 2003 exams.

    Any have any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Noel

Why not do MCSE2003 and then the upgrade exam?

Was just thinking that maybe I could do the MCSE 2008 in a few months time thus saving having to do another exam.

Annoying just posted and IE crashed...

Anyway, why not start studying for your Windows 2008 exams now?

If you haven't already got an MCSE/MCSA that I would go straight for the MCTIP:SA/EA now.

Get certified on Windows Server 2008
As of last week, the Windows Server 2008 technology specialist exams are live. If you weren't on the "first to know" list to get the announcement when they came out, and are just hearing this now, from me, you are the "second to know." Second only to being first! Not too shabby.

So go take these exams and get certified on Windows Server 2008.

Exam 70-640 TS: Windows Server 2008 Active Directory, Configuring
Exam 70-642 TS: Windows Server 2008 Network Infrastructure, Configuring
Exam 70-643 TS: Windows Server 2008 Applications Infrastructure, Configuring

If you do have an MCSA/MCSE in 2003, then check out the following link

After you have taken the above you will need

    MCITP: Server Administrator
Exam 70-646 PRO: Windows Server 2008, Server Administrator

    MCITP: Enterprise Administrator
Exam 70-646 PRO: Windows Server 2008, Enterprise Administrator

do the MCSA and take the ramp up.

It would be for your benefit to get some exposure to the 2003 curriculum and sit the tests. then ramp up. it also shows active achievement/study to have done both exams.

I was going to the mcse 2003 route and started studying for it but then realised that I would be better off studying for server 2008 (MCITS:SA then adding 3 more exams adds the MCITS:EA) as it goes with vista moreso i.e. same generation. Plus if I have 2008 done then I will have covered many of the topics of 2003. I will setup a machine running 2003 to get the hang of that.

In the mean time I am studying for my CCENT (ICND1) to be followed by CCNA (ICND2) so will start the MS exams in a few months.

    Thanks everyone for the advice.

aye, the advantage with going straight to 2008 is less exams.

you know you can skip ccent? by just doing one ccna exam?

Well, it wasn't even that. It was more that I would not be working in IT until at least next year so I couldn't see much advantage doing the 2k3 exams not when I have time to just do the 2k8 exams and get more exposure to 2k8 instead. Im just hoping that companies are actually rolling it out.

Anyone know is there much take up on server 2k8 or if there will be?

Was gonna do that but the two single exams are €90 each and the CCNA is €140. Considering it would be easier to pass the two single exams I dont mind paying the extra €40. I did a course on the old CCNA (Intro and ICND) about 2/3 years ago but never sat the exams so am just refreshing on the new exams which should not take long as I already have a good understanding of IP addresses, subnetting and supernetting.

I wouldn't worry about not seeing 2003, companies will still use 2003, 2000 and nt. regardless of whether an organization takes 2008 from the first day it is released very few will actually upgrade all their old servers to 2008. Most just wait for the server to die or go out of warranty then upgrade the hardware.

There were alot of UI changes in 2008, knowing the old UI would be advantageous too.

i suppose so fella! whatever you think yourself, i just feel that i'd rather spend 2 weeks studying for one exam then 4 weeks studying for two?
