as I'll be playing live from next week onwards and my HR Deville is going to be far too loud to get the tones I need (I also want to have effects and control without tap dancing)

Is it best to connect the X3 into the power amp in socket rather than instrument in (will bypassing the amp pre amp mean less volume and colouration of the sound)

The amp will probably be used just as a monitor on stage and the live connected straight into the desk until we get a better sound system and monitoring.

Most things are going straight to the desk so I don't want to drown out the other musicians on stage.

Yeah it sucks being invited to play electric guitar and thinking I need new gear! Not

It was a toss up between getting this or getting a Blackheart amp and a few more pedals, but the dual path stuff means I can have 2 different delays at once without tap dancing

With fairly good amp simulators, you would get the most accurate tones if you bypass the amp.

If you select a particular amp from the X3 Live and connect it to your amp, you are getting a cross between the amp you have and the amp on the X3 Live. Somewhere in between.

The amp will only (hopefully) be used to hear the guitar on stage, I'm hoping to be able to connect directly into the board for everyone else

Yeah, they're quite the lovely bit of kit, though surprisingly large (well, I was surprised). I use it mostly for bass amp modelling these days, but when I got it I spent weeks just playing with various guitar effects. Great craic.
