Bizarre Safari gmail problem

    This just started today and I'm at a loss as to whats causing it. When I'm trying to write an email in gmail every time I hit the shift key it selects the email address field so anything I type afterwards is entered there. Even stranger is the fact the same thing is happening if I use the caps lock. Its only happening with Safari, all my other browsers are fine. Anyone else experiencing this?

    oh yes!!!!

    use the older version of the gmail interface - there's a link in the top right corner for it. Though as far as i know there's no way of making the older interface the default (not that there is much between them).

    I haven't tried gmail with the latest safari, the one they pushed out a couple days ago. Perhaps it would be worth doing a software update? The latest Webkit builds work fine however.

    Gmail Chat doesn't appear in safari for me...anyone else having thins problem?

    I used to have that problem that Gmail chat wouldnt work on safari and then I downloaded the most recent version of Safari 3.1 and it comes up now, same as it does with Firefox.

    Well I'm not alone in this, it seems to be a problem with Safari 3.1 and the old version of Gmail. The only solution is to switch to the new version which is currently only available in American English.
