I stupedly buggered up my focus stereo today by knocking the volume control off it & then while trying to reattach it, ending up breaking it so that the power no longer comes on.

I now need to replace it so, I was thinking of getting one of these facia replacements to fit the opening & getting a bluetooth stereo to fit it. Can I still use the remote control on the steering column to control the new stereo ?

From what i've heard you cant use the buttons on the wheel to control the new stereo... unless i think, u can get a genuine Ford stereo as the replacement, but it'll have to be reprogrammed.

Pretty much all the big name manufacturers do loom adapters to interface OEM steering wheel controls to their head units. I've got an Alpine MP3 unit in my old dear's Focus and the buttons on the paddle behind the wheel work just like they did with the old head unit. You can get the Ford adapters from http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/category_m-stalk-adapter_c-928.htm

Can anyone tell me what steering wheel control adaptor I will need for the following car stereo. http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_504661_langId_-1_categoryId_165474

The halfords website says I also need a harness adaptor as well as the obvious facia adaptor.

Anyone done similar to a 2000 Focus?

I posted back in this thread after I replaced the stereo in my 99 focus.

Just had a look on ebay and you can get a stalk adapter here

When purchasing you email him the model of the new stereo as a cable goes from the stalk adapter into the remote connection in the stereo.

Seems a bit pricey though, might be other sellers on ebay.

I changed the stock radio in my Mk1 focus. The the facia cost €25 (probably could have got this cheaper) and the OEM cable cost €6 from ebay but it didn't let me operate the steering radio controls. Make sure to get the right cable.

Anyone know where I could get one of those cables for a '98 Opel Vectra paired up with an Aldi Tevion unit?

Not holding out much hope but it would be nice to finally use those buttons on the steering wheel.:o
