Sex and ehh.. condoms?

Yea.. goin unregged for this one.. Dont kno if this is in the appropriate forum but i dont know where else to go bout this..

Basically as the title says, myself and the gf both 18 and of almost 2 years recently decided to try sex for the first time together.. with disastrous results..

First of all were both virgins so have no experiance, not so much the problem. But having no experiance myself id never bought or even tried on a condom prior to this, after having some foreplay for the best part of half an hour or so we were ready to give it a go so i went for the condoms only to find that they were too small, as in width, it jus didn wanna go on.. Afaik i thought condoms were like a one for all size? Anyway it took the best part of 10mins to get the condom actually on after alot of persuasion and by then i'd pretty much lost my hardness and was ony on a semi which as youd imagine was usless..

But im puzzeled as to why the condom wouldn go on so easy, im what id consider average down there.. approx 7inch length and id say 5inch girth/just over 2inch width.. And i do know how to acyually put them on prop btw..

Id really appreciate if someone could help me out here tho.. Do condoms actually come in diff sizes? Where can i find ones right for me? What ones are right for me?

    Im actually lost..

This doesn't make sense. So I don't think you know how to put a condom on. If you have a 7 inch long penis and it's got 5 inches girth? You have a penis wider than a grapefruit.

He means 5 around I suspect.

No he doesn't, circumferences are strange like that. 5" is average so I can't see why it wouldn't fit. What was the brand?

Girth is actually the circumference of the "shaft" if you'd like to know.. so 5" all the way round... OR its about 2" in width as if you were to look down at your penis..

And how would that affect the way id be putting a condom on anyway? I know perfectly well how to put one on and use it..

You've completely contradicted yourself. Does having a demonstration on a cucumber in a sex ed class constitute as knowing how to put one on? Most probably not. You sound like you are of average size so don't worry. Go and buy a box of six, get yourself hard and practice at putting them on properly (not inside out) and it would be no harm **** with one on a few times too to get used to the slight loss in sensation. You will be fine OP so don't worry, thumbs up for being responsible but don't risk losing the moment (and hard on) again without knowing how to put one on. Good luck OP you will be fine, may the shag be with you.;)

Get a pack of these type. I've found them to be very easy to get on when you don't want to be wasting time.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,395 ✭✭✭Marksie

I am with miss fluff with this one.
if you knew how to use it, it wouldnt have taken 10 minutes.

Practice beforehand with a few to get used to them

All things considered, I suspect you were trying to put the condom on upside down. If you place the condom on your knob correct way up, it should be possible to just roll it onto the the shaft. If you have the condom on upside down then it it wouldn't roll and you'll end trying to pull it on which really ain't going to work. To be clear - the correct way is that the "roll" is on the outside of the condom, the incorrect way would have the roll on the inside. So the correct way is like putting a woolen hat on - the excess material is rolled on the outside of ur head.

    That make any sense? :)

Totally agree with Marksie and Miss Fluff!

But just a little tip, try to integrate putting the condom on with the foreplay.
If you mess around for half an hour and then head off for 5-10 minutes to get the box, open the plastic wrap, get one out and try to put it on (and in the process doing the "putting a johnny on" face) then expect her to be as up for it as she was before the intermission it might not just be your enthusiam you have to worry about.
Have the wrapped condom within easy reach and once it's on don't just jump in, take time to work yourself and your aprtner back up to where you were before you had to break.

    Have fun!

Thanx alot for the quick replies everyone.. appreciated..

Tbh i have been actually practicing on my own with the remainder of the box since but im still haven the same problem... There WAY too tight and just wont go on with ease and im not by any means putting it on wrong, ive followed instructions and have looked it up countless of times, even watched hand full of videos..

Btw 10mins was abit of an assageration.. more like 3-4mins buts still..

I dont how go about this.. Whats the average size of condoms you can buy of the shelf? Are there slightly smaller and bigger ones available or are they all the same?

    Could anyone recommend anymore?

Its just wrecking my head... if only there were an easier way..

Have the wrapped condom within easy reach and once it's on don't just jump in, take time to work yourself and your aprtner back up to where you were before you had to break.

Useful advice, noting worse than having te condom stashed away and having to hunt for it.

Agreed with that its important to be fully erect when you put the condom on.
I find the best way the limit the time between stopping, putting one on and penetration would be to be giving oral sex and have the condom on the bed close by.
you can slip it on juts before you begin to move up her body then

Ah no, im not that bad now lol.. I hold the tip so as the air doesn get trapped when putting in on, have the roll on the outside slowly rolling it down.. But thats where the problem is, its not really wide enought(condom) to actually go over the head an down the shaft with ease hence taking alot of time an taking caution not to rip or tear... and when its finally on its WAY to tight...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,673 ✭✭✭Miss Fluff

You know you have to STRETCH a condom to get it over your cock though OP? They have quite a lot of give in them (a LOT of give!) so you will have to stretch it to get it on properly, they don't just go on comprable to the size they appear when they come out of the wrapper.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,395 ✭✭✭Marksie

    Try condom power.
They are in the centre of dublin.
They have an online store and do different sized condoms.

Juts google condom power. (i am not gong to create alink for those who may see this in work)

You can stretch them over your head (the one on your shoulders)Oh the true value of giong to college!, so just keep trying, maybe invest in some lube to start off with until you're a little more used to them.

Do you have the exact brand name - I recall using one particular brand that was supposed to be extra sensitive and they felt most peculiar on, way too tight.

There are extra large condoms, you could try these...

You are rolling it down aren't you?

Also, you didn't go and buy water balloons cos they just plain won't work as a contraception device...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 166,026 ✭✭✭✭LegacyUser

    Right, back again.

Havent had much of a chance to try sex again as yea.. havent the place or time to.. Anyway, since the last time i went out and bought a few diff types of condoms to try and see what works best...

What dya know? Same problem... Every single condom was way too tight(Tried, 5 diff types durex, some trojan one & even some boots own brand).

NOTE it is not anything to do with me and how im putting them on. Certain at this point.

Only way i can describe the problem is like trying to roll a condom over an apple or something that just wont work..

Sooo.. yea.. as confused as i am.. i took out a measuring tape(Tailor's one btw) to.. well.. measure myself.. Girth is 6" & length is just under 8", 7 and 3/4 be percise.

    I read the following:

    http://www.scarleteen.com/article/advice/what_size_condom_do_i_need

From which ive gatherd that im 50% biger than average and according to i will need larger condoms.

Now the thing is where in gods name can i get these? Ive tried everywhere, boots, various pharmacys etc.. no luck..

What about sex shops? would they? I wouldn be too keen goin in and buyin em in there tho but if i have i have to..

Anyone any more advice and/or any recommendations?

    Cheers

CondomPower have these on their website...

    http://www.condompower.ie/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=23_103&products_id=385

Address was (not 100% sure they are still on Dame St)... 57 Dame Street, Dublin 2. Google suggests they may have moved to 8 Crow Street Temple Bar.

Superdrug and Boots would be a worth a look into as well.

    Good luck :)

    jesus, don't stretch it!!! *
If you do, you risk the chance more air going into the tip, and more likelyhood of it bursting = not good!!
Once you start to put it on, squeeze the air out of the tip... then it should ROLL over your fella. It's made of latex, so it should be able to roll on snug and tight.

*well, stretch BEFORE you put it on (as per below posters comments) but not during putting it on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,798 ✭✭✭Mr. Incognito

Mate- I used to have the same problem It's not the length but the rubber ring of latex at the bottom that is too tight- what you do is stretch that once the condom is out of the packet, with your two thumbs. Once that's stretched you'll find it much easier.

and Durex are crap. all durex. use mates, much easier.

the measurements seem to be normal enough! and i trust that he's right with them because he's 18 and he's probabaly doin all that "area and volume" maths for his leaving cert exams!!:p

come to think of it this is like one of those irritating maths questions!!
if you cant fihure it out go to the doctor and ask him what the deal is! OR have a look at some porn and see if your lil' fella looks the same as the ones in the movies!lol;)

try puttin it on with lube though sounds like the best bet! or get XXLs and see if they do the trick!

Yes there are different sizes of condoms and of penises.
Wow like really we dont all wear the same show size.

One size or brand does not fit all, you will have to try a few until you find what works for
you and it could be that you may end up having to by them in condom power or online rather then in high street chemists.

You may need to look for Avanti, magnum, Kimono MAXX, Okeido.

it is something to do with how you are putting them on.
your measurements arent that amazing OP.
people put condoms over their head, so idunno what you are doing.
there are instructions in the pack.

Oh stop wth the condoms over the head thing, that streches them well out of shape and there is a point past which a condom will not natural strech and if it does it's not much use as a condom any more.

OP your measurements would be similar to my own, takes me about 30 seconds to get a durex on. Just practice practice practice. I used to buy the bigger ones but had a box of the normal lads and just got used to it

This, is a very bad idea. Lube inside a condom will cause it to slip off.

The only durex product that I could ever get on was the pleasuremax ones, the rest were did not fit whatsoever. I even tried similar durex and they didn't work, but the pleasuremax certainly did.

A lot of people are right though, you're 110% doing something wrong. Perhaps go into a chemist and ask one of the girls at the counter to show you how?

Hi OP, as a girl and being in a long term relationship me and my bf tried a few different types, Durex didnt work for us, so tried Mates, (available from Boots) and they rock, are very very good, and there's so many different varieties of them now! And also boots buy 2, get 1 free option is great, as are the boxes of Mates with the c*ck vibrating ring, you could incorporate into your f-play!
Best of luck!!! and take your time!!! :D

    Mates > Durex

Just dont go trying a king size mars bar wrapper :P

I have the exact opposite problem, condoms are way too big for my penis and slip off, I have to keep pulling them back. So don't be too upset, it could be much worse :(
