    Hi there

I want to buy a new dell laptop for personal home use. My budget will be €800-€1200 (but the less the better! ;) ). Use will be for internet, MS Office packages, photos - nothing fancy like gaming or anything like that. I'd like something with a good bit of storage for photos/music and is speedy enough. Also want wireless. I'm confused by the specs and don't really want to waste money on something that is over spec for my needs. Anybody any suggestions?

    Thanks for your help. :)

The Inspiron 1525 looks a great spec that you can get well within your stated budget...following the "Hottest Offer" link on the website you can get an Intel Dual Core 2.4GHz Processor, 4GB of RAM (which is huge...will do you for years), 250GB hard drive...very impressive for a laptop, integrated wireless, HDMI port for watching on an LCD screen, DVD RW drive all for €929. Good price I think.

1525 uses integrated graphics... the 1520 had some better video options, but dell seems to have changed that

He's not interested in gaming so the graphics card isn't needed.

Have a look at Dell's small business laptops, generally cheaper than home laptops for the same specs (but you're stuck with black as only colour)

You could go with this vostro. It's a pretty decent spec for what you want. Upgrade the battery to the 6 cell and maybe upgrade the hard drive to the 160GB if you think you need it. It should still be under your budget.
