    Hey Guys,

I'm in final year and I'm not exactly sure how the module credit system works when all the results are in... i.e. for my average.

Say if I get 70% in a 10 credit module and 60% in a 5 credit module... to get my average do I just add the 60 to the 70 and divide by 3.... or by 2??

    Thanks for any help.

Its pretty convoluted but this is how i work it.
    • There are 60 credits per year
    • So, put the credits that the module is worth on top of the 60
    • Then divide 60 into your result and multiply it by whatever the module was worth
    • So for example, for a 10 credit module you get 60% in, divide it by 60 and multiply by 10
    • Then do that for all your modules and add the resulting calculations together and this is the average

this *may* work: if you get 50 percent in a 10 credit module, and everything else is 5 credits just count the 50 twice in your calculations. like if you had 2 modules, a 5 crediter in which you got 80 and the 10 crediter you got 50 in then the average would be (50+50+80)/3

That’s not the full story, you are forgetting about the module weighting system. Remember some modules get a higher weighting than others and this is not always reflected in the ECTS credit system. For an accurate answer for your degree programme, don’t just rely on a simplistic ECTS calculation, ask your Faculty Administrator and they will give you the correct formula. It may vary for related programmes even within a school, so its always best to check.

OP - This is spot on, and worked for me :D
