Hypnotist Thief

    Full Story Here

Apparently, there have been some thefts in italy accomplished through on-the-spot hypnosis. Reports claim that a man of indian or north african heritage has been telling clerks to "look into his eyes" and when the come through, they find their cash gone and have no memory of the event.

I didn't think this was really possible. I've seen Derren Brown perform a similar tick at the Horse track, he claimed it was possible, but I had reservations (as I usually do with him, although I do believe you can achieve similar results to his many stunts with clever psychology).

Is this a common ability with hypnotists or is this man "special" in his abilities?

I think like with any skill you can always take it to the next level. Like you can be a great artist but with practice and time you can always improve.

Could there be more to this guy as in actualy mind control powers? Wouldnt it be cool if it was!

I remember seeing a video a while back on youtube, where Derren Brown tricked a guy into handing over his money, each time the person copped it within a minute or so but if you were intent on using it to actually rob someone you'd have enough time to make a get away. I was basically a case of using NLP (or a similar psychological technique) to open someone's suggestions.

I read about this, it sounds intriguing.

I've read Derren Brown's 'Trick of the Mind' book and it makes for a fascinating read. It describes how he learned hypnosis and many of his experiences with it. He does describe in the book how he discovered at one point that he could hypnotise people far easier and more quickly than he originally thought possible, although IIRC they did have to be aware that they were going to be hypnotised for it to work.

I remember seeing his race-track trick, it was very impressive, but understanding more about how some of his tricks work now, I believe he would have prepared the clerks in some way off-camera. I'm not suggesting they were in on it, but I'm guessing he did something before hand to suggest to them that he would have this power of hypnosis over them. I wonder if the same would be true of the bank robber above.
