    For me it's America.

It has everything you could want on a holiday, beaches, citylife, Las Vegas, Skiing, wildlife parks, nature reserves, theme parks etc etc.

The money is easy to understand, everybody speaks english, good food is easy to find (whatever your tastes).

I second that also the exchange rate against the euro. San Francisco, New york, you can afford to eat in a restraunt every day unlike here im lucky to get to one twice a year.

Cape Town, just been there for the second time, ok you have to be careful at night but by day it's fine and at night you just take (dirt cheap) taxis. It has everything, nice city, fabulous beaches, great food and wine and really cheap.

    I think so.

Like I said, there's not much you can do anywhere in the world that you can't do in America.

America can be enjoyed no matter what your budget (backpacker or high flyer). It's easy to find you way around, the transport network thoughout the country is good.

Of course like everywhere else, there are places to avoid (LA & Detriot spring to mind) but if you do your research a great time can be had.

Some people may say that Europe has everything (and more) to offer than the US and that maybe true, but you have to deal with many different languages, currencies, laws, transport network, food etc. And why that might appeal to some people I prefer the single language & currency option in the US.

Over the years I have travelled all over Europe and had some terrible holidays but apart from a few iffy days in LA I have always had a great time in the US.
I haven't been to Africa, Asia or Australia so I can't compare them to the US.

South America is somewhere else that intrigues me, never been so I may give it a go one day.

Anyone been to South America? Any tips?

Think people are cheating by saying America. I mean its practically a continent and New York is a completely different holiday to San Francisco or Dallas or any of the coastal resorts.

its like saying you favourite destination was Europe.

Personally my two favourites are New York and Barcelona. New York for the energy, Barcelona for the cool...

It's no different to people saying their favourite holiday was in Australia.

The reason I said America rather than picking a particular city is I just couldn't choose.

When I go to New York I rarely spend my entire time in the city, I venture off to Boston or Washington for a few days. Same thing when I am on the west coast, if I fly into SFO I will spend a bit of time travelling up/down the coast or spend a few days in Vegas.

    So, no....it's not cheating :D

Thats what i ment myself. America is vastly diffent depending on where your are. I myself am going on a road trip across it i have before been in san francisco, then flew to New York and Chicago. Even by state its quite diffrent as San Francisco is much nicer than LA. I hated LA myself. But the rest of the country is fine well the bits i have been in so far.

Sydney closely followed by New York. Two fantastic cities but I think Syndey just pips NY because of the beaches.

Dubai, im always blown away every time i go there, everything about the place, the friendliness of people who are always so helpful, the stunning architecture, the Hotels & Restaurants which are the best in the world hands down, such a cosmopolitan city with year around sunshine, the fastest growing city on the planet and for me the best, would move there in a heartbeat if i could get a good job (which is easier said than done)
