    i have a dell inspiron 2650
i want to upgrade to the maximum 512mb memory
there is two slots each containing 128mb ,
but i don't fancy opening up the laptop to access the second slot which is under the keyboard .
can i purchase a 512mb stick and just put that into the easily accessible slot ?
even though that would total 640mb and laptop only allows 512mb , would i still get my 512mb max doing it this way ?

The memory might have to come in pairs eg 2 x 256mb

A good company might be Calyx, I know that they supply third party memory and will be able to check the configuration
