what's the difference between the wired and wireless mighty mouse?

I want to get a mouse for my macbook and I like the mighty mouse.

I'm not too pushed on the bluetooth option. Is there any difference between the wired and wireless versions?

Apart from the cable on the wired and the need for batteries in the wireless they're the same.

BTW, the scrollball on Mighty Mice is a nightmare imo, I keep my hands very clean but still it gets clogged and unresponsive.

Cable's the only difference, the horrendous scroll ball issue carries throughout the range.

    Wrong.

One major difference is the weight. The wireless is much heavier, due to the batteries. It greatly affects the overall balance and feel of the mouse.
I have both, but wouldn't buy the wireless version again.

/edit - yes, the ball is a bollocks. Hopefully they'll replace it with a touch-senstive area.

The touch sensitivity doesn't work terribly well either. I need to lift my index finger off the surface of a mighty mouse completely to make it recognise a right-click. Sounds like a small issue but it affects the usability hugely. That plus the unresponsiveness of the scroll ball makes me an unhappy mighty mouse user.

That has nothing to do with the difference between the two mice in question as it will be the same for both.
While that was in issue for me in the day of using one, I, like everybody else I know who owns one, was able to very easily adjust to it.

Opps, didn't even cross my mind tbh.

I've used both, and you do get used to the extra weight in the wireless model. Once you don't keep using the wired version one day and the wireless version the next, you won't care.

Regarding batteries, the ones that come with it are great (disposable lithium), but once they are dead (5-6 months), you should use rechargeable Ni-Mh ones, as you'll go through regular alkaline batteries really quickly (expensive and very wasteful). I keep a single pair of alkaline ones around for use during the few hours that it takes to recharge the Ni-Mh ones, which happens about once a month.

Regarding the scroll-ball - what is on your hands, people? :D - the wife and I use these mice all day long, and have only needed to clean the scrollballs about once every six months (roll the mouse around upside down on a damp (not wet) dishcloth / j-cloth).

Sorry, had to be done. ZENER, if you have a "Daddy forgot the parental password" image, this might be a good time.
On topic, I bought mine for the Macbook Pro, but I've just gone back to using a wired Mightymouse. The weight is just too much to handle after using a wired mouse for so long.

I bought one for my bag as well and actually quite like it's size and shape over anything else I've seen. I have to admit though the extra weight means you have to squeeze it more when you lift it causing Dashboard or something else to pop up if you're holding it too far forward. Of course it's simple to disable these options.

Im sorry that you are suffering, but you don't require your leg to type, so there really is no excuse for 'txt spk'. It's annoying, against the rules, and more importantly, it incites abuse from other posters.

Furthermore, as babypink pointed out, selling/trading is not accepted here. Adverts is the place for that. Any further violation of this rule shall result in a banning.

Finally, answers like "one has a wire and one doesn't" are 'unhelpful and pointless', which is also against the rules.

To everyone who gave helpful answers - thanks!

    Indeed...

Had the opportunity to use one of the wireless mice last night after the pub. My God there is some difference in the weight alright, you really can't appreciate it until you try it for yourself. While no doubt I could get used to it if I had to, it would feel very odd and uncomfortable to use during the adjustment period.
