Hi my friend has 700 euro to play with, maybe a little more, excluding the build/shipping price.

Doesn't need an OS but he does require a samsung 500 gb drive

Its mainly to be used for gaming..

Whats the best PC you can build from hardwareversand.de for 700 euros?

He doesn't intend to overclock, and would prefer a machine which won't have driver issues or won't be too loud.. its just the box aswell.. no monitor, etc

    Club3d 8800GT 512mb - an insane €163
    Core2Duo 8200 - €155
    Abit IP35 - €80
    OCZ Plat 6400ddr2 - €36
    Corsair 450w PSU - €53
    Samsung 500GB - €68
    DVDRW - €23
Pick a case he doesn't hate with the remainder €50-100.
    Delivery: €30.
Up the ante to an 8800GTS 512MB for €210 if he's not hitting the limit.

Something like this would be perfect imo...

Overclocking is what the Core 2 cpu's are all about, you can turn a €200 cpu into a €800 cpu with a few clicks in the bios, its simple..

Here is what I would put together for that price from hardwareversand for €697:

    Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Tray, 8192Kb, LGA775, 64bit, Kentsfield

    Gigabyte GA-P31-DS3L ,Intel P31, ATX, PCI-Express

Arctic Freezer 7 Pro Sockel 775

    2048MB DDR2 Corsair TwinX XMS2 CL 5, PC6400/800

    ATX-Netzteil Corsair VX550W 550 Watt

    MSI NX8800GT-T2D512E-OC, NVIDIA 8800GT, 512MB, PCI-Express

    Samsung HD501LJ 500GB 7200,16 MB Cache

    Samsung SH-S203D bulk schwarz

Antec Nine Hundred, ATX, ohne Netzteil

These are all parts oozing with quality! Taking a Q6600 should future proof the system as I bet s/he does not plan upgrading it too often! Its very overclockable too even if s/he doesn't wish too and the AC Freezer 7 Pro should lengthen its life and again if you decide to OC, hes ready to do so.. especially with that motherboard. Its a real bargain on a motherboard boasting plenty of BIOs option and is very overclockable. Even if he doesn't wish to, this mobo drips with performance. Most of these parts will be ready for everything anyway but especially the 8800GT OC. Its pre-overclocked to make it one of the faster 8800GTs available. Don't bother with the 8800GTS 512mb. Reviews I read weren't too promising. Go for the 550w over the 450w as if you choose to upgrade it for him, it'll have plenty of overhead. The Corsair XMS2 are bargains with their low latency high performance RAM. The samsung spinpoint is one of the fast available hard drives (good choice). And he has the choice of any ATX case on the site under the Antec 900.. Tell him to look more towards NZXT, Coolermaster, Thermaltake or Antec cases as these are better quality.

Go with this rig and he'll be happy for YEARS!!

Perfect build toco, but a gaming pc must have the option of Sli these days...

    Change the mobo to this...

Some Value Toco, add another 2Gb ram and its perfect, especially when ddr2 is for peanuts these days

    Why not think about putting in 2 3870's or 2 9600's ?
I'm sure your 700 euros budget will allow 2 gpus.

What size monitor do you? No point considering sli if it's only a 17".

papu.. stop going off topic. the OP stated he didn't want the 700 to include an OS. Only go for Squalls SLI mobo if you choose to SLI otherwise you already said prefer "a machine which won't have driver issues"
