I'm thinking about buying one of these at the moment. Any thoughts? I've read that the speaker can crap out at high volumes and the actual volume itself is fairly low for a 50 watt all-valver. Do you find that to be the case?

Im not Feylya but I have played one a good bit!!

My mate has one, its rock in a box!! Not an awful lot of clean headroom before it starts getting dirty, even with a strat, which could limt it if you were thinking of live usage. Personally I could live with just the clean channel with boost, great for bluesy stuff. The OD channel gets way heavier than I'd ever use but you can coax some good AC/DC type tones from it too. In fact OD1 and a Les Paul sounds wicked-it nails that '20th Century Boy' sound by T-Rex.
As you mentioned it is quiet for a 50 watter, my Laney LC30 always seemed much louder. I havent heard it at full pelt though (and therefore I dont know about the speaker crapping out). They are aiming for a plexi on steroids type of sound I think. There was a great review in Guitarist mag, I still have it- if your ever in the Phibsboro area you can grab it off me (next week). They loved it. Hope that helps a wee bit :)

Cheers for the reply. Sound wise it sounds right up my alley. The only thing I'm worrying about is volume. BUT, I reckon the Laney LC series are seriously loud for their wattage rating anyway, I had an LC50 that I never really got past 12o'clock on the volume knob. My plan would be to add a cab in another couple of months anyway.

I'm Feylya and so's my wife!

Gotta admit, I absolutely love the RG50. It mightn't be the loudest amp in the world but it keeps up well with the drummer (isn't that right Baggio). Generally, it's at about 1 o'clock on the volume but I'm pushing a GT-8 through the clean channel.

In terms of tones, I absolutely love the distortions in it. <cliche>Everything from blues to heavy metal</cliche>. I'm a big Metallica fan and I can get a pretty close Metallica tone from it.

As for the speaking crapping out, I haven't noticed it. Had it for about 2 years, retubed it once and only had one bit of trouble with it when the internal fuse blew last weekend. Other than that, it's a great wee amp.
