    Hi,

My satelite signal/reception on the telly is SSSSSSTUTTERING all day. My dish is on the gable end of the house and is getting hammered in the wind - will stuttering happen if the dish is moving in the wind?

    or is it something else?
    Thanks.

    NIF.

you can have a slight movement without it affecting signal, its probably not brilliantly alligned already so a slight wobble is killing the signal altogether

i'd say make sure its mounting bolts are all tight and the get someone to adjust the dish for strongest signal again

    HELP!!!

my sky has gotten worse - now I'm getting the message "NO SATELITE SIGNAL IS BEING RECIEVED" on some channels and some are working fine!!?

What can it be??? My Sky engineers not answering his phone - HELP.

Is there anything I can do personally?

This is easy enough to do yourself. A ladder and a friend is all you need.

A few questions for the OP ,

What sky box have you got , standard , sky plus , or HD ?
How long is it since you had the dish re-aligned ?
If you go to services and do a signal test , what is the signal like , 50% or better ?

Our pixelly, stuttering, no-signal problem (with Setanta Sports and "secondary" Sky channels) was the LNB slipping back on its arm, apparently.

My partner pushed it back into place, checked the picture and used waterproof tape to hold it there.

    No problem since.

I was sure it was a dish alignment problem, but since we secured the LNB: problem solved... for free.

I dont think satellite manufacturers designed their dishes to cope with the abominable weather we have endured over the last few months.
My dish has been hammered in howling winds which puts huge pressure on the dish.
It seems the wind pressure on a 70cm dish is 22lbs per square inch @ 100 mph. The total surface area wind pressure on a 1.5m dish is a massive 60060 lbs hitting your dish - a lot of the impact is lost, so the constant pressure is around 1000 lbs.
Is it any wonder the signal is stuttering !

Usually when this happens my dish, I look outside and there is a crow sitting on it.
