    hey,

I think I'm going to change to a diesel because I do a fair bit of mileage traveling to work everyday.
The advice I'm looking for is.... if you had a €5K budget and were looking for a Diesel car what would you buy and why?

    I'm currently driving a 99 so I'd drop back to a 98 if I had to but I don't see myself going back as far a 97.

I'm thinking 98/99 Audi A4 but I'd love you hear your opinions...

01 C5 HDI. Cheap as chips, 50mpg, comfy and will run forever. Plenty to choose from under €5k. Check out B&S.

I did look at some on Carzone but I just don't like the look of them tbh.

after doing a bit of looking around today I'm leaning more towards a 00/01 Skoda Octavia.
Slightly cheaper quick enables me to move up in the years instead of down

I reckon for that money you will not beat a 00-02 Peugeot 406 HDI. I think they are the most under rated car going. I have a Peugeot 406 HDI and a Skoda Superb 130BHP and the Peugeot is more economical/more comfortable/more reliable but a good bit slower!!

Thanks for the reply iei044775. After 82 views I was hoping somebody might have an opinion.
My g/f had a 206 but she said she'd never get another one. I had considered the 406 but I guess i brushed it off after my g/f's input. Maybe I'll look at them again! Thanks again
