    I like Uggs on girls
    Dubes look fine on guys.

Never the other way around. I've seen a few foreign guys wearing uggs, which is fine I guess since they're probably Australian, but it doesn't sit well over here.

    Girls wearing Dubes look retarded.

no cause them builders boots actually serve a good purpose, they have steel toes on them to protect your toes.

there are actual ugg australia boots for men and i think that's what rb is talking about.

if someone is comfortable in them who am i to judge them, i personally don't like the look of either piece of footwear but i wouldn't hold it against someone if they wore them.

I love my Uggs. They're sooo comfortable & look great with skinny jeans:)

Umm I don't wear dubes i dont really like them tbh..

I love my UGG Australia boots :) They are fabulously comfy :D I don't really have an opinion on Dubes, I don't like or dislike them!

    LOVE uggs!!!

    comfiest boots ever!!

for the dubes thou, dont like them at all tbh. should only be worn if your actually sailing.

I hate when UGG's get worn and they kinda sink. I've seen them on girls and it look awful. I'd have less of a problem with them if everyone weren't sheep about them and they weren't €300 (thats 3 pairs of Dubes!)

UGG's are really comfy..i love them.

    Dubes...not so much

UGG's seem really comfortable(put my arm in one before while gettin the packagin out)

Dont really like dubes tbh i prefer cons:P

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 78 ✭✭claret

I've both, but haven't worn my UGGS in months. I'll stand faithful to my dubes, they last years. I've a couple of pairs, but I sail so I've an excuse :P

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,440 ✭✭✭✭Piste

I wear my dubes all the time, but probably less so as yesterday I got a cuter way prettier everyday shoe (really can't go wrong with Babycham though they are a bitch to break in!) so my dubes will probably only be worn to school from now on.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 76 ✭✭Da Bomber

I love my dubes there so comfy! I've seen girls wearin the uggs under skirts though it looks very stupid!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 189 ✭✭RetroRainbow

I think they're both horrible pairs of shoes. Nothing I hate more then seeing people run around in uggs with 'fat man pants' tucked into them. Blech.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 89 ✭✭missingyou

i use to despise uggs, but i love them now!

dubes arent really my thing but i think they do look lovely on some guys and girls!

i think its all about your personal style!

its much worse to see some total weirdos trying to pull off that kinda style just to look cool!

Looking for the unfashion forum... :-p

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 104 ✭✭shazpunk

This is quite silly! It's all about personal style, Uggs and Dubes are, in my opintion, way more confey than Cons and Dolly shoes. This is coming from someone who has everything from Doc Martins and Vans, to Uggs and Dubes, to Every day heals and pumps in her wardrobe, so I'm not some D4 supremist ;p

People who don't like shoes because a certin type of person wears them have some serious personal issues they need to address.

Or course, Uggs will look horrible if dirty and ruined, the same way any item of clothing would, yet people seem only to complain about them, and not cons with holes in them, and Stilettoes with worn down heals.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,946 ✭✭✭red_ice

i hate both, but i dont mind uggs as much because they are made for comfort, not fashon...

Dubs just look stupid with everything.

dubes rock ha...had a fight with friend over uggs and converse, she said converse were sick and i said nahh uhh they only sick on rockery freaks, and she only hated them cos of the sterotype around them and then i used her uggs as an exapmle saying loadsa people hate them and say they sick too, didn't talk for about 3-4 hours, lol we were such retards!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,129 ✭✭✭Nightwish

Lol the state of both dubes and uggs. Horrible footwear worn predominantly by pretentious clowns.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,954 ✭✭✭✭Larianne

I can understand why a lot of people dislike Uggs and Dubes, they're associated with a certain type of person. Personally I don't like the Dubes as I have known a lot of tossers wearing them.

Uggs on the otherhand, I hesitated buying them but I think it's something you have to do if in Australia and once the feet were in they weren't coming out. OMG they are so comfy! Got a lovely pair for $150. Australian made, not this UGG Australia where they are made in CHINA. Support Australian farmers(they're having a rough time at the moment!). ;)

I love my Uggs but would not pay the price that they are here. I get mine through my sister who knows a supplier (they usually work out at less than €50 a pair!)...

The only time I don't like Uggs when they are worn by silly girls in tracksuits, with hair that has been manicured so carefully to look a mess. For some reason that really bugs me. It is so obvious that they spend hours perfecting that mess - why not spend the time trying to look nice if you're going to put that much effort in!?

Ha so true, as much as I love my UGGs, its not the tracksuit and hair that bug me as much, its the fact that you see 5 girls together and they are all the very same, the perfected sculpted messy hair and baked in fake tan, girls watching way too much laguna beach and so on... that gives UGGs the bad name...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,326 ✭✭✭pretty*monster

I hate them both. I don't care what sort of person thay're associated with (My 12 year old sister wears Uggs and I lover her to bits, I jus hate her shoes) they are ugly, ugly things and I don't think that the fact that they're comfortable excusses that.

Does anyone remember when Dubarrys were like, the cheap shoes that primary school kids wore to school?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 89 ✭✭missingyou

I love uggs .... but dubs are the shoes my dad wears when going sailing and taking fashion advice from my dad who owns a green jacket should not happen!

Only the cheap fake Uggs do that. The real ones tend to last, and can be cleaned as well.

To the person who was wondering if I was talking about builders boots, no, no I wasn't and I know the difference.

This threads served a good purpose, it roots out all the school kids "Omgz I lovez dubes because everyone else does so I've got to right?". Soo many new additions to my ignore list, ty OP :)

coming from the one who specifies her location as South Dublin, lol.
and i like my dubes cos they comfortable, and they way nicer for school than those clunky fat black ones...ugghh, but yeah i started wearing dubes for school in 2nd year and now in 4th year way more people wearing them.

I completely agree, the ammount of these types of threads is rediculous.

I bet a million euroo this is going to turn into a D4-bashing thread before being locked

    It's the usual mid-term/school holidays dubes/uggs/D4 thread,
normality will most likely return next week . :)

    Uggs are Australian bedroom Slippers

Brilliant seeing the Tango Drummies sign up to give their Uggs For Africa on Anonymous with Glenda Gilson :D

dubes = footwear for school uniforms

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 224 ✭✭The G Child

Dubes are muck looking full stop. Whether its with tracksuits (just wrong) or school uniforms (with the laces so lose that they hang from the feet) they just look bad.

Love my Dubes! Have Navy(for school) and Brown and have been wearing them for a few years now and liked them enough to buy them again after my first pair.

Personally i like UGGS on girls, unlike some other on here it seems!

Slightly off topic but I have to know this...

Has anyone else noticed the UGG shuffle? The way girls seem to shuffle along in them and they make a distinctive walking noise and you can tell if someone behind you is wearing UGGs because of the shuffle?

Have definitely noticed that. It's also funny when you see people in worn-out Uggs, and the boot looks like it's tilted over. They look like they have a broken ankle when they're walking.

I don't have a problem with Dubes, just with the type of person who is usually found wearing them.
