    I'll start.

Formula One. Who cares if Jordan are no longer Irish owned? It is a lot better than that Moto GP rubbish.

Its on ITV or Setanta. Why does it need to be on Irish TV (as you call it) when you can watch it there??

    Some people can't afford multi-channel TV. :(

Bachelors Walk. Best thing they've ever done. No repeats, and (apart from 1st series) they havent even put it out on dvd.

I'd love Formula One to come back to RTE. I thought that Peter whatshisface fella was a great commentator. (Although seemingly I'm the only one!)

I loved that show that Moncrief presented for awhile with all the comedians on it. Can't remember the name.

I'd love to see these back too. You'd wonder what's going on in the mind of some people in RTE really. I mean, they get rid of good shows and lash out crap like that recent 'comedy'. (Don't remember the name!)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 515 ✭✭✭steve 0

I can seen this becoming a longer list. Have to agree with 'The Blizzard' and 'Gondolas' (original format, think they changed it about 3 times).
    Would add
    2Phat
    Know Your Sport
    No Disco
Mailbag (I know its on the radio now but its still not the same)
    not forgetting Gridlock :D

You're not! I loved the way he'd get completely over-excited at the littlest things. Setanta outbid RTE for the Irish rights a couple of years ago, so there's not much chance of it being on terrestrial again anytime soon.

reeling in the years, starting in 2000. I know recent years are still probably fresh in the mind but i think it would be interesting..

Only so I could win it mind and go to South Africa for the next World Cup. I also loved the way the lad who came second always had a big puss on him even though he won a car

Open House with Marty and Mary.

It isn't that I want it back, but if it meant getting rid of The Afternoon Show, that would be so good.

    Paths to freedom....
First few episodes of that wre fecking gas, got a bit stupid towards the end though.

    Fergus's Wedding...
    Same as above.

Apres Match, I know it will be on for the world cup but it should be on every week.

Anyone remember the series based on the Roddy Doyle book the woman who walked into doors? think it was called The Family. The best Drama (imo) rte have ever made.

    Edit:- Garda Patrol...... comical genius.
I was reading a book (think it was howard mark's) about international drug smuggling in the 80's and he had smuggled in about 30million sterling worth of drugs through Ireland to be brought to the UK. He was in his hotel and was flicking through the stations and came across Garda Patrol and it was about a woman's brooch that had been missing for over a week....

    1.Apres Match
    2. Don't feed the Gondolas
    3. Blackboard Jungle (loved this ten years ago when I was a teenager!)
    4. The Family
    5. Pure Mule
    6. Love is the Drug (never knew why they never did a second series)
    7. Bachelors Walk

Forget about it!RTE are too damn cheap to show anything good.RTE always tries to go for the most ''cost effective'' option and make their own shows but they cant even make any successful shows. And if they do make some successful shows they find a way to feck it up.

I'm bloody well sick of the sh!te they show. It's time they got their act together. They dont show any rugby anymore because they are too cheap to pay for match broadcasting rights.

On a lighter note,I would like to see the return of Frasier,Cheers,Seinfeld,Murder she Wrote and The A Team.

    What about 'Bitter Sweet'?......

What the hell?, all the publicity and only one epsiode?. What's the story?, does anyone know if/when the second episode is coming?.....

U goto rte.ie and there is shag all there about it. Talk about a tease.

That was it. It was a feature-length drama of sorts. A once off.

Quicksilver - with Bunny Carr and Norman the organ player.
It would be cheaper now with the Euro - 5 cent instead of 5 pence questions.
No other Irish TV show has given the world a phrase as good as "Stop the lights".

Does anyone remember a show that was on RTE called Scoail amach ab bpobaleen (apologies about the poor Irish!). It must be ten or twelve years since it was on. It used to be on RTE1 on Sunday evenings. I think there used to be a bald presenter.
