Does anyone know if it's possible to connect to the Playstation Network on Res in DCU? I asked CSD but they won't tell me if they've disabled it or not.

CSD will not answer those types of queries unless you give them more detailed information. In your case you need to find out if the following ports are open (in both directions) for the PSN to work.

    TCP: 80, 443, 5223

    UDP: 3478, 3479, 3658 (voice chat), 4658

However, some third party titles will require additional ports to be open so you'll need to find out what they are for each title and then ask CSD to open them for you.

I did tell them all the ports and they said if any of them were closed they wouldn't be willing to open them. I've asked them to confirm that some of them are closed so I can rule out any other problems but they're not terribly prompt with replies.

Note: All these services are subject to access control - if you can't use them and feel you have a valid reason to, please mail sysops@dcu.ie explaining the problem and reason.

    need we say more?
