hi guys, i purchased an item from someone on adverts for 110 euro, i had not recieved the item after a week so contacted the seller to see what the delay was, the user was registered in antrim but informed me she was actually in the uk, she told me if i had not recieved the item by the end of the week she would have her partner hand deliver it to my address in dublin. another week passed and she kept giving me stories about royal mail investigating the claim, i started a paypal dispute and quickly esculated it to a claim.

paypal gave me tracking information for the item(that she posted the same day i opened the claim) and i recieved a package about 3 days later, i signed for the package and opened it to find an empty box. i immedietly contacted paypal and sent them photographs of the box which was of a different model of the item i had bought, they then emailed me to tell me as i had recieved and signed for the package they had no option but to settle the dispute in the sellers favour, i paid for the item with a 3v card and therefore have no way of doing a chargeback, am i screwed?

I'd say so yes (from a Paypal point of view could you have taken out any content of the box before taking the photo).

You have been had by the seller, not much you can do since you signed for the package. Was the item supposed to be heavy?

it was actually just ghd hair straightner but i supose the empty box would be lighter than a full one, have already had a heated debate with the seller on the thread on adverts, i contacted the mod for the thread asking for any contact details they may have on their profile but they just told me to pm the seller , i dont suppose there is anything left to do really as the seller is based in the uk, except i wont buy anything from a seller anywhere other than ireland again

Not much good to you now I know, but you should sign stuff 'unchecked' if you don't open it before signing for it.
