Surely the only people who can access boards from China would be government propagandists?

I remember this one from the city buses last summer, the jade in the medals is a great idea and looks really cool.

While I still have suspicions about his connections to the party I suspect he is living in Ireland and has simply swallowed the chinese propaganda. It is quite convincing when you watch their state "news".

Some people here also buy into the western propaganda too much, its not quite stalinist russia or like the days of Mao's cultural revolution :D you will not see police beating people or anything like that and if you watch people going to work you will see them giving out and arguing with police when they are stopped on motorbikes and asked for licenses (not that it will stop them getting a fine, but you will not see them being dragged off or anything).

unpossible buddy, hopefully you did enjoy the tour and welcome you to come again, there are lots more to see and visit. and also, surfering boards.ie is not banned at all from there but youtube, however people knows how to get on them by accessing other servers worldwide. it's the same. somebody here tell me that The best way to deal with anti-China flies IS TO CELEBRATE IN THEIR FACES! DO NOT RESPONSE TO THEM POINTS BY POINTS. THERE'S TIME&PLACE FOR EVERYING.

Yes, but the Chinese government wants everybody to wait until the games to protest so as to not disturb the games. I say the time and place is now.
Sorry for twisting the thread to a political one but this issue is quite sensitive to a lot of people.

biko, i would say you will be amazed if there's any protest going on there, the fact is the goverment of course allow people to protest, Mum was sitting in front of the local goverment building in 1998 to protest against change on retirement policy, myself was in a protest against America attacting chinese ambassy in yogoslava when i was 19. the point is they would allow you to protest only if they think it's right, and i don't think protest against the olympics is right at all:)

It wasn't a tour my wife is chinese. The first time I was there both Boards.ie and BBC were blocked (2006) last year BBC was still blocked and I don't think I bothered trying boards. Strangely yahoo news and forums were not  I had to get my news from rte.ie when I was there.

There is a huge difference between being against a country and being against the governemt of a country. Don't get the two confused, every negative thing said against your government here is not the same as a negative thing being said against the chinese people, I mean its not like you voted them into power or anything :D
the point is they would allow you to protest only if they think it's right, and i don't think protest against the olympics is right at all
    So state-sponsored protests only?
