whats the correct benching technique?? i see some say bar to below nipples elbows bent and some say elbows/shoulders inline bar to upper chest??

Personally I prefer the former, it saves my shoulders a lot and I find it easier to keep my elbows underneath my wrists and get more power.

However a lot of people find the latter will hit their chest more and so use that way. I've found that way to cause my shoulders a bit of grief so don't do that what but whatever works.

    What Trib said.

It's important to remember to ALWAYS keep your wrists over your elbows and to make sure you have your shoulder blades pinched together.

If you aim for your nipples or just below/above you should be in a pretty good position. Literally just above or below. Don't go for your neck and don't aim for you abs!!

If you're looking at going to the gym 3 days a week, you can't go far wrong with Starting Strength.

Have a look in the FAQ section of that site for a forum link that explains everything in more detail.
