    Arthur c clarke has died at the age of 90.

    A sometimes (very) boring style of writing but the ideas were incredible (the guy invented the communications satellite!!well, sort of..).

    He didn't do people well, but when it comes to describing giant kilometres-long cylinders, no one beats him.

    I remember closing my eyes and seeing the great sea rising above me......gave me the willies.

    Agreed, those Rama books were great, especially the first one.
