    Hi folks,

    I'm trying to save my contacts to my laptop from my phone but I cant find them once its done.

    I think they are saved in the C drive, there's a folder in there called nokia phone browser and a sub folder called my contacts and an xml file is saved (its a 1kb file, does that sound right for about 300 contacts??).

    Problem is when I go to open the file a kinda pop up saying that internet explorer has restricted the file from showing active content that can access your computer. I can click "allow blocked content" but its still the same thing.

    The following info is on the screen but I have no idea what it means..
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1" ?>
    - <fi:Folder xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance&quot; xmlns:fi="urn:Folder" xsi:schemaLocation="urn:Folder Folder.xsd">
    - <Application>
    <Name>Contacts</Name>
    <Version>3</Version>
    <SubTree>0</SubTree>
    - <FileType>
    <Extension>datastore</Extension>
    </FileType>
    <CLSID>FBFE7864-D495-41f0-B7DC-4BB601CC295E</CLSID>
    <Icon>my-Contacts_static.ico</Icon>
    </Application>
    </fi:Folder>

    The reason I need to sort this is I bought an iphone and want to save the contacts to Windows Address Book as the iphone can not read contacts direct from the sim.

    I'm not very techy so if somebody could give me a hand I'd be very grateful.

    Thanks in advance

    open nokia pc suite and connect the old nokia phone, then in pc suite click contacts - you'll see the list of contact, select all and copy paste to a location on your computer , they will get saved as .vcf files which are on my pc get opened with outlook, I know nothing about the iPhone but outlook and this vcf format are fairly standard so you may be able to import these to the iphone

    Ok I'll try that now. Thanks.

    Still no joy...........

    I managed to get them into the address book, saved as a video card file but when I sync with itunes it doesn't seem to pick them up.

    There's a "Sync contacts with windows address book" option which I have ticked and it seems to go through the motions but still nothing saved on iphone.

    I've never used outlook as I just use my hotmail account so it isn't set up properly and I'm not sure what the settings should be, not sure would it make a difference.

    Anybody:confused::confused::confused:

    My problem is very much similar to yours one in the sense as i too get an xml file 'folder' in the respective directories on my PC instead of the contacts.Though i could get back the contacts on connecting my mobile(N70) to the PC but unfortunately i lost my mobile recently.Fortunately i synchronized my mobile with the PC only couple of days before loosing it,but now i am now not able to detect the same contacts data on my PC in the absence of connecting to the mobile through the Nokia PC Suite.

    The contents of the XML reads as such:

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1" ?>
    - <fi:Folder xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance&quot; xmlns:fi="urn:Folder" xsi:schemaLocation="urn:Folder Folder.xsd">
    - <Application>
    <Name>Contacts</Name>
    <Version>3</Version>
    <SubTree>0</SubTree>
    - <FileType>
    <Extension>datastore</Extension>
    </FileType>
    <CLSID>FBFE7864-D495-41f0-B7DC-4BB601CC295E</CLSID>
    <Icon>my-Contacts_static.ico</Icon>
    </Application>
    </fi:Folder>

    Let me know if someone has any idea how to retrieve the same contacts details which are available on my PC in the form of empty xml folders(In the absence of my Nokia mobile)
