Not a problem with not the pic was shot, but the actual lighting is a little harsh. Pet hate of mine

Yeah the lighting is not very even and definately too bright on some parts of the building but they were under pressure apparently. But in saying that i remember when there was trees growing out of the building.
What they have done is a definite improvement.

i like the shot, but the lights are a bit harsh, but if you have photoshop you can darken the bright lights down a bit and sharpen it up a lot. To sharpen I used High Pass Sharpening. I did a quick photshop on it, hope you dont mind.
What format did you take the photo in JPEG/Raw ? If raw you should take photo, lower the exposure and the "mix" it with the current photo.

Would this be one of those shots that would have benefited from HDR?

It would definitely benefit from shooting RAW in the first instant and then touching up the overblown highlights with simple layers... I don't think this particular photo/subject would benefit from any large scale HDR/tonemapping.

I would of thought that HDR would of suited, to combine the very dark and the very bright areas. As the range is wide, it would need a few shots, to prevent that camo look

If you have PS CS3 you can apply exposure compensation on the image and then use layers to "filter" it out, so you could decrease the exposure on the bright areas, even if you just have a jpeg.
