I thought the comissioner Rodger goodell stated that he is going to do everything in his power to keep them in buffalo. I think they'll end up playing a couple of regular season games in Toronto but they'll still be a buffalo team.

he is yeah but its not always possible for the Commisioner to stop teams moving.there was talk of giving Toronto an "Expansion Franchise".basically letting the Bills move to Toronto but change their name and keep "a" Buffalo Bills in Buffalo.said it would pobably mean no team in Buffalo for 2 or 3 seasons but that it would get one after that

Toronto Bills? Jesus, what next - the Boston Texans.
This is what gives American Sports such a bad name in Europe

.... for I am the mayor of Albuquerque :pac::pac::pac:

EDIT: Just saw the "expansion franchise" bit. I don't care though - it's still a ridiculous situation.

That's the franchise system though. LA Rams --> ST Louis, Baltimore Colts --> Indianapolis, etc. Eventually it comes down to money and the bills will probably end up in Toronto if the money is right. Just like we'll see a franchise back in LA before too long.

Do Canadians not have their own similar form of Football anyway. I'm surprised they're leaving the US, particularly as there isn't a team based in LA - one would have thought that would be a goldmine.

Yes the CFL. If you have ever seen a game you'll see what a load of rubbish it is. Awful stuff.

It is a goldmine and the TV companies (and the NFL), FOX, NBC, etc are none to happy that there is no Franchise there.

There's two reasons there's no team in LA. One is lack of a stadium good enough, secondly is that previous teams based there have found it difficult to retain fans

Having been to a Bills game there are just as many Canadians at the tailgate and in the Stadium than there are Americans. The MLSin the last two years opened up a franchise in Canada and it has paid dividends stadium full every week. The demand for an NFL team in Canada is just the same and Toronto is an ideal spot. The NFL know that a bulk of the Bills fans are Canadian and this is due to Hockey being so popular in Buffalo. All the sport mad friends I have in Buffalo would much prefer watch hockey then soccer then football in that order. They wont go out of their way for football.

Anyway to get back to the topic, I used to be a big fan of the Bills when I was younger, during the 80's. Picked them as I liked the name. However I lost interest in the game until I started watching a bit this year. Hope all works out for the Bills and they can stay in Buffalo.

As to the Bills playing in Toronto, the one poster is right, there are as many southern Ontario as Western NY fans. So Torontoans should have their due. I would hate to see the team move to Toronto and I don't think that will happen. But playing a few games in Toronto helps cement that fan base. If you've ever been to WNY/Southern Ontario you know that it is one big metropolis. "Buuffaronto" its been called. As a western New Yorker, Canada is just a bridge away, and God love em.

Ahhh yes the CFL, a very different game really. Just ask Doug Flutie. Question for the group: Why hasn't the NFL gobbled up the hot franchises in the CFL like Toronto, Montreal and BC? Like they did in MLB and NBA and NHL? With only 8 teams how does this league survive?

My best to you in Ireland,

    Kenny in Cleveland:D

To be fair (after a quick glance at google maps) I never actually realised how close Buffalo was to Canada (i.e. on the Border) and particularly Toronto. It seems somewhat less shameful now.

    /Tips hat

yeah, we're practically one in the same. As Bills season tix holders we were excited about the games in Toronto, until we discovered they excluded those games from our season ticket package.

    Jerks.

    Signed,
