Land registry search

Is it possible when a search is done on a property at the land registry to see if there were ever any dealings that were withdrawn or pending items that were then removed?

In general terms the answer is yes. It does depend on the detail though. Items like mortgages and judgments may not be up to date. Depends on also whether the land is registered or not! :)

This is done by entering the folio number of the land and requesting a search, or indeed going there and searching yourself.

    Thanks for that Tom.

What I was looking for is a pending judgement mortgage that I was told that was on a property and was then removed. Would there is any trace of this as it was just a dealing number at the time it was allegedly there?

Judgment searches should be directed in the Judgments Office to confirm whether any lis pendens is registered against the property. This is a note that there is litigation in being concerning the title to the land. A person who purchases land subject to a lis pendens will be bound by the outcome of the litigation.

In theory you will/should find any and all burdens against the folio on page/section 4 of the said folio. This sometimes show mortgages on bad debts.
If no folio exists i would be unsure were to look. But the national archive office in Bishop st in Dublin should help for old properties. You might find something in the registry of deeds, not sure where this building can be found or what banner it sits under..

What happened was when Ma Burns went to remortgage her house a few years ago she was told there was a pending JM (only a dealing number apparently) on the property for €10k. This was placed in error and was later removed. When I asked a neutral solicitor to do a search he could find no trace of this pending burden, so hence my original question.
