Now here's an interesting one from the weekend.

This is a very unusual cave because it's on a raised beach cave some 7m above the current high water level. It was formed when the sea level was much higher than today. Because it's so high, the sea doesn't get a chance to erode the karst features away.

Really like your pic looking towards to island through the stalactites. Your eye is drawn out through the bars towards it brightly lit up.

Great shot Andy, looks like its from a different plant.

After looking at some of the stalagmites for a while you can almost see human features in the shadows

As always, a great shot of a new and interesting place. One of these fine days we'll organise ourselves to get north and turn you into a tourguide for the day :)

P.S The article is up for this cave

I have requested R.J.Welch's photo from 1890 of the inside of this cave from the Ulster Museum. I'll post it up in the article when I get hold of a copy.

    Another great shot.
You really do find some interesting places!
is this another HDR? The stalactites in the centre don't seem as sharp as some of the others... may just be me tho'

    Yes, this is HDR again.

5 exposures from 1/60th second to 4 seconds at F11.

There is perhaps some hazing around the edges of the stalactites because of the blending of exposures spanning 8 stops. These extreme HDRs are always a challenge for the software.

is this another HDR? A minor quibble is that the stalactites in the centre don't seem as sharp as some of the others... may just be me tho'
