Hey Guys I have always been interested in joining club and maybe even shooting targets competitively and I really have no idea where to start? I am 26 and have a clean driving license. Any help to get me started would really help.

    Thanks

Thank-you very much 'Iceage'. I need a hobby that will get me out in the open. Is there clubs I can join? How do I get an Airsoft firearm license?

As a guide. The second and forth thread at the top of this forum should give you all the advise you'll need. As Airsoft is a legal hobbie/pastime there is no need for licences as effectively these AEG's that we use are classed as toys.

Check out the threads here, and also if you need anymore info check out the I.A.A Irish Airsoft Associtaion. And failing that, just ask! there's plenty of us here who can help.

Read the first 2 pages no the entire thread. Is this an expensive sport. I am not talking about the ammo and kit and protective clothing but more about the cost of playing on a fortnightly basis? Thanks.

have a look through the stickys to get the jist of what airsoft is first, we dont need firarms licences or anything, we dont use firearms., if your looking for something along the lines of an air rifle for target shooting then you need to go to the shooting forum, here in airsoft we shoot low powered little plastic BBs., you can target shoot but the fun is in the gaming itself.,

welcome to the sport by the way.,;)

Ok well I see there is a new Irish store that sell Airsoft . Where is this store based? Have you recommendations such as what guns are the best quality, most durable, longest distance? I am very interested. Swords is a stones throw away. I apologize for the signature I have here but I originally joined boards to discuss music production. I have always wanted to play a gun orientated outdoor game I just didn't know where to start. I heard about the 'Boys for toys' but sadly I missed it. I run a studio and because of that I never get out other than 5 aside twice a week.

hey dav, welcome... I am 28 like yourself... put some money together then eg if you have 400, look an AEG and a sidearm if you can afford it... I have a clone that works well or me starting out... But I am going to get a CA or a TM soon.. first of all get yourself some good goggles more than anything...

Get yourself Airsoft International mag as well it will give you an idea of whats out there as well...

Thank-you both for replying, it is a pleasure. Money really is not an issue. I am getting paid in a few weeks and I have been meaning to invest some cash in a new hobby that would get me out and about. I will look at the AEG to start. This sport sounds amazing.

    Dark puma not tiger.
My entire life I wanted to be a real soldier, but the goodness in my soul has made me a 'nice' guy. I am a fan of Rainbow tactical shooters and anything that requires patience skill and accuracy. I will check HRTA out. Thanks :)

    Big thank-you,

I am just writing a message to everyone who has so nicely helped me find a solid starting point with this sport. I had no clue, but thanks to everyone for taking the time to write to me. I have enough information here to start out with HRTA and if that day is a good one well I will be investing in my own setup and squad/clan. Thank-you all so much and if there is anything else that might be helpful I am all ears.

    Your sincerely

    Dav

I'd like to pointlessly and redundantly second that, even half a day will get you to meet the guys; it's a sport where getting on with the other geezers who play is kind of important, and thankfully everyone is sound and incredibly helpful. In fact, sometimes getting them to lay off the comedy routines and play the game takes some doing, far as I can tell... ;)

I'm still a n00b, myself. Look forward to tagging you at HRTA one of these days.

Great advice I will do. I would recommend Frontlines fuels of war if you want large skirmish and large maps!
