He's hardly the same since he sobered up and moved to Amerikay ... but I still shelled out crazy money to watch him in Killarney in a few months. :pac:

Harry Hill and Bill Hicks. Comedy legends.Love 'em.

Gotta agree with Trout over Pinette, funny as hell
Connelly isn't as good as he was but he's still the Godfather of stand-up
Used to be a massive Hicks fan but realised recently he isn't as funny as I thought, just clever and I agree with a lot of his opinions. Still a legend though

Normally I would say Eddie Izzard, but I don't think a transvestite is in the bgrh ethos, so I'm going for richard pryor

I didn't know there WAS a J Pinette. Watching him on You Tube. He's brilliant.

Given the risks he took, I'm for Richard Pryor. Jimmy Carr's 1 liners have me ROTFL in no time.

Bill Hicks is a legend, cant beat watchin him with a few cans!
Of the newer generation i like Andrew Maxwell and Tommy Tiernan (although kinda gettin tired of his routine now)

    Chris Rock.
Fave Irish, probably Dara O Briain
    Hate Jason Byrne

Jason Byrne should be sent home with a note saying he's not allowed back and his gloves on wooden sticks inserted you know where.

Definately agree with that. Didn't wanna say it cos hardly anyone knows who he is, but the man is a bloody legend! His gig at Tripod a while ago was the best comedy gig I've ever seen (and I watch a loooot of comedy)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,566 ✭✭✭Gillo

Jimmy Carr. yes there are possibly funnier guys out there but I love his sarcasm and barrage of one liners.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,510 ✭✭✭Daemonic

Ross Noble, if you get a chance to see him live don't miss it, the man is totally insane.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,699 ✭✭✭Santa Claus

Bill Bailey, his live shows are brilliant.
Used to think Tommy Tiernan was hilarious but all his shows kinda seem the same now.

Might I suggest that any brother who nominates Dave McSavage should be expelled from BGRH and shot with a ball of their own sh*te ?

Greg Proops is brilliant. I think I mentioned at the first beers that I'd seen him live, completely different to how he is on tv. I still can't believe no-one else knew who Colin Mochrie is.

    Dylan Moran
    Bill Bailey
    Eddie Izzard
David O'Doherty (but you can only see him once)
    Dara O'Brian live is good.

I hate hate hate Tommy Tiernan, Andrew Maxwell and Jason Byrne.

Oh God I hate him so much. Have never laughed at anything he's said. Same goes for Ed and Jason Byrne and that tool Maxwell.

    As for the good ones,

    Billy Connolly
Stephen Lynch (youtube him if you don't know him)
    Ricky Gervais with his podcasts
Early Peter Kay before the novelty wore off
    Colin Murphy
    Frank Skinner

I can't decide between Billy Connolly and Dara O'Brian

Billy is a legend and Im pretty sure I have all his dvd/video/cd's at this stage.
But Dara is a true comedy genius, I really wish he kept doing the Panel as it was the only reason to watch it.

For me, the Pub Landlord fella is a legend for a few beers on one of his live DVD's. And Dylan Moran is largely untouchable, better and more consistent than possibly any other stand up. Then there's Bill Bailey. I mean the stuff he does just blows my mind!
