For me it doesn't work, a couple of things strike me straight off,

Its too dark, I don't know if you PP'ed this way or the camera exposed it this way but it looks wrong.

You're the wrong end, the footprints are approaching you, and it looks strange.

The crop is too tight, there is no context.

Maybe you planned it this way, deliberately tried to be unconventional, but unfortunately it doesn't do it for me.

P.S. Much better if you stick the shot into your post, you will get more reaction, there's a howto in the FAQ/sticky

I agree about the footprints coming towards you, not looking right.
I also don't think there's enough detail in the prints.
You might have got a better effect, if you concentrated on just a few prints & got closer to them.

Sorry if i'm missing something in it, but i'm with the previous posters on this one. Doesn't do anything for me. The footprints aren't very definite on my display (btw - my display is pretty poor anyway so maybe it looks better for you). I think if you are to print, it will look very dark and sorry but...... maybe even depressing over time.

The solution (only my opinion) if you were to approach it again would be more colour - brighter tones - more definite footprints - perhaps include a horizon and maybe even if there was something on the horizon to keep in the frame with nice depth of field to keep it suitably blurred.

Hey I could be very wrong about this - it's only an opinion. Cheers.

I agree that it's far too dark.
However, I don't agree with the others that it's on the wrong end.
You do get the clichéd shot of footprints going away from you, but this is different.
I'm a dog lover, and I love the fact that you don't know what dog it is or was, and know where it's gone to since.
This is a loved-one going to its master. :)

It would be a great shot, that dog with the boots on......

    I'm worried for you!
Do you imagine dogs everywhere, or is it just in this picture?
I've read a bit about psychiatry, so I'm here for you, if you need to talk to someone...

What the hell are you slabbering about?

I don't mind getting brutally honest feedback here, its part of the process. The sky is blue the grass is green, big deal i will move on and keep trying and trying and trying until i get it right! But to read such tripe as this...its baffeling! To many years listening to the Big Doc talking ****e up there in Antrim i think :)

To everyone else thanks for your opinions.

    I think that's a bit too personal now, dingdong1234567.
Oriel, I believe, thought there were dog prints in the shot & he was giving you positive feedback. Maybe you need to read his post again.

I was thinking about this, while I was out on Thursday.
The sand certainly makes a difference, as fine sand will give you more detail in the footprint. The sand here was quite coarse.

    Anyway, here's my effort.
