Batteries for camcorders

Just wondering, why are batteries for camcorders so ****ing expensive? I bought a Sony DCR HC45E camcorder last year and I'm really happy with it except for the fact that the battery only lasts an hour. After looking on different sites and phoning the Sony Centre in Cork I found out that it's €80 for an NP-FH 70 battery.

Does anyone know if it's possible to get batteries cheaper than this and if so will it work with my camcorder? I've read a couple of reviews saying that Sony do something with their batteries/camcorders so that they won't properly with third party accessories.
