Trouble fitting new Cable Outlet on wall...Please advise

    Hello,

While moving around a chest of drawers I accidentally bashed the cable outlet on the wall, I pushed the coaxial cable into it with sufficient force that it stopped working or worked with terrible reception.

The outlet was not a good quality NTL/UPC one, it was quite a cheap white one.

I got a cheap replacement part from Woodies:

I took the original outlet off the wall and attached the coaxial cable to this new outlet. The strange thing was that while the analogue reception was then perfect the digital signal seemed very choppy and froze a lot more than usual.

A week or so later the digital signal is now unwatchable and the analogue signal is very poor.

Is it possible the that cheap outlet does not cover the required frequency range for digital TV? Can someone point me in the direction of one that is likely to work if this is the case. I've got in touch with UPC but they are useless, they won't give a specific time date for sending someone out so if I can just fix it myself I'd sooner do that.

Any advice would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

Have you checked that none on the fine wires in the outer sheath are making contact with the centre wirem the connector or the metal chassis (if any) of the faceplate.

That did the trick, I think they must have been touching.

Thanks very much for your help, I appreciate it.
