Mack Warranty

    Hi

I recently (2 weeks ago) got some lens and other equipment and I want to obtain a mack warranty for these.
I know you have to purchase it within 30 days for it to be valid.
I went to the mack site and it gives a wrong link for shutterbug Ireland as their agent in Ireland.
How do I contact shutterbug Ireland and are these the right people to deal with?

Are there any good alternatives to the mack warranty or would they be the best around.

    Thanks guys.

I [presume] speak on behalf of everybody on here when I say: "mack - what?".
A warranty is lost on a lens really, just buy a good one and get it insured :)

    Thanks Oriel

So I take it that Mack warranties don't have a good reputation.
Have many people on here had a bad experience with them?
I was wondering why I didn't get much response on my thread.

Strange because a pro photographer a friend knows recommended them.

Ok so you would go for insurance, any ideas what insurance companies are good for photography equipment.
I might just get all my camera equipment insured then.

BTW the lens I was talking about was the canon 24-70mm f/2.8 L USM and it cost a bit so I want to be covered.

I suppose insurance would be better cause that would cover theft, loss, damage etc. (will they insure for repair for faulty lens aswell??)

Maybe it could go in the FAQ sticky on the forum.

    Many Thanks again. :)

Well I have heard of the Mack Warranty and they seem to be reputable from what I've heard.

However you may need to return the lens to the US to get things fixed etc. which could lead to excess trouble for you.

Like Oriel has said, it may be a better option for Irish lens owners to get it insured locally.

I don't know where you can get the warrenty here. It's usually taken out when you buy the camera. As far as the warranty itself goes it is excellent and better than a Canon warranty. You can, for example, get your gear repaired anywhere in the world.

    Thanks. Thirdfox.
What insurance companies are used by photographers here? Can you recommend any that specialise in photography equipment in Ireland.

    Thanks Valentia.
According to the mack site you can get the warranty up to 30 days after purchase if you go to one of their agents in Ireland.
On their site it gives "shutterbug" as their agent in Ireland. Can't seem to find them either through the internet or an address. Anyone know shutterbug??

I have 7 days left if I want to get it.

I registered all mine through https://secure3.datafabrication.com/mack/main_warranty.asp. I used the details from the Mack card that came in the lens box.

They are a good reliable operation to deal with. So have no worries there.
