    Hello
    has anyone seen the reborning art? It is a growing art form which is spooky and gorgeous all at the same time, it will endear women mainly, as when we were little girls we sat around the xmas tree wishing for a brand new doll to cuddle...i am one of those artists i also have a website which shows the reborning process and also other interesting information so go have a look and see what you think.

    I've seen some of these before. I really don't like them, not saying they're not beautifully made and all but I see them as physical manifestations of loss. My brother's girlfriend lost a child at 8.5months pregnant and he's all I see when I look at these dolls.

    i know what you are saying, but lots of women see a cuddle, as being one of the main things which help to allieviate the 'pain'..And did you hug a dolly when you were a little girl? was that 'weird' too? some women like to cuddle soft cuddly toys, whether it is wierd or not..after all, men have their train sets and flashy cars...what do we have? Now taking them out in prams is different..

    Don't believe I used the word weird there missus / mister.

    All I'm saying is that to me they look like stillbirths, and the fact that women who have endured miscarriage cling to these things to cover their loss makes me sad. Humans are much better at cuddling than dolls.

    From a craft point of view they're fantastic though.

    I saw a program on this recently, people who had lost babies and grandparents who lost custody of a baby. This doll can be made to resemble the original baby and people treat it like its real, wheeling it in a pram etc;
    It's unhealthy and messes with peoples heads..

    They are also very expensive not something you would buy a child to play with.

    Sorry but I think its a poor way to extract money from people who obviously need help to move on.....

    It's weird and creepy, if they want something to care for either look after a friend's baby, adopt a child or get a dog.

    Yes i see what you are all saying, but.. predominately the reborns were introduced as an artform and originated in America..[where else] however, due to the fact that their is ' nowt as queer as folk ' and.. 'it takes all sorts to make a world' some people other then collectors, like to buy these re-borns to be able to treat them like grown ups dollies. That is all they are dollies. Now it may appear wierd to you lot, but to some people it is a life line to be able to move forward. Now some people like to move forward by blocking grief from their minds, whereas others like to be as close to the grief problem as possible, hence re-born babies and photographs! The word weird was not meant to represent anyones opinion or word usage. And as for 'extracting' money from people, nobody holds a gun to the people who buy reborns they do it all on their own volition. Just like nobody 'extracts' money from someone who wants to buy a car....We all have free will.

    urrrgh, i just looked the photos on your page i have to say i found those dolls very ugly and creepy. I also have to say, i found the section on infertility rather disturb, it said to me "you cant have babies, so here take one of my plastic ones".

    sorry, but this is just wrong

    well of course it shows you do not have a clue what you are talking about, [And by the way, thanks for going to my website, gotcha curious no doubt] they are not plastic, they are made from gorgeous soft vinyl silicone, and just because you have to voice a very unfriendly retort, doesnt mean you represent the whole of the nation. Good luck!
