Rambo 5 Coming!!

Sylvester Stallone is planning a fifth 'Rambo' film following the success of his ultra-violent 2008 sequel.

The action man has revealed he's started writing a fifth instalment of the franchise - but the next Rambo movie will be very different from the shoot 'em up jungle adventures his character is most famous for.

Stallone tells Swedish newspaper Metro: "I would like to take Rambo to another genre, experiment a little with the character. It would definitely not be another war movie.

"I can't go any further with that than what I've already done. What it's going to be like, I'm not going to reveal at this point. But I'm already halfway though writing the manuscript."

Stallone's Rambo films started more than 25 years ago with 'First Blood'.

I really enjoyed 'Rambo' but dont know what hes talking about with the different genre. All it can ever be is a silly action movie.

Thought Part 4 was more or less a franchise ender - decent conclusion, everyone was happy and so forth.
Fifth one seems dodgy though... perhaps a sequel too far? Especially if it is a different genre - perhaps make a different film with a different character: fans will be disapointed when Rambo doesn't committ a small-scale genocide again, while critics will probably mock any attempts at seriousness: no-win situation?

In fairness, 2 & 3 were probably a sequel too far. Its hardly as if another film is going to 'tarnish' the name of the series! This isnt Indianna Jones were talking about here.

    Saw it last night.

Screen was empty but the film did exactly what it said on the tin.
No storyline whatsoever, but lots of guts gore and over the top decapitations.

    I loved it.

I can easily see Rambo becoming some sort of urban warrior taking on a street gang or something **** like that.

If it wasn't for the ending of Rambo (4) I'd say ell yeah do another one, but the ending was a franchise ending for me, it'll spoil things to go back on that

It's honestly the funniest film I've seen all year so I wouldn't mind another sequel.

I forsee a take on the special effects studded sci-fi genre where a geriatric Rambo battles annoying aliens and teams up with a furry sidekick; Rambo Wars Episode V: A New Hip.

I've been saying it for the past few weeks, what we need is Rocky vs Rambo.

i thought they had forgotten how to make films like that

no romance, comedy, or character building, but its just soo enjoyable to watch the bad people die,

if rambo 5 is not the exact same i dont want to know about it

Yeah I saw it a few weeks ago, thought it was awesome! Don't know why people criticise it, what more do they want from a Rambo film!

In fairness though, the best Rambo still is the first one, cus it had that whole storyline of him being changed in Vietnam, and then he just wasn't able to fit into 'normal' American society anymore....the whole speech he does at the end to Richard Crenna when he talks about his friends dying and 'I couldn't find his legs etc.' was brilliant and really helped you understand the character.

I thought it was really cool the way he returned to the states at the end of the most recent film, and how things had come full circle and all that. The new film might be about him fitting into normal society now etc. Although if it was something like 'Rambo the freelance bounty hunter' that would be cringable but then if it something along the lines of some hicks getting on the wrong side of him we could have something like 'Rambo: Deliverence' where he kills a whole bunch of weird rednecks who kidnap his daughter/horse whatever! that would be freakin' awesome!!!!

It would be excellent if for the 5th one they cryogenically freeze Rambo, then in the future, some criminal gets released, maybe played by Denzel or even Wesley Snipes, then they have to defrost Rambo and let him loose to catch him.

What about John and his father on a trip to see the Twin towers, he sees n plane closing, jumps on it#s wing, fights all snakes on board and kills Neo. By doing that, Gandalf will come back from death and they will ride their horses to Brokeback mountains to...

he'll probably train a new protoge to be a great soilder, this guy will become the greatets soilder in the world and get too big for his own boots and then in the end rambo will have to beat the sh!t out of him in an alleyway!!

I think Sly had a draft written where Rambo is back in America living in a quiet town and stumbles across a Nazi/White Power group planning a terror campaign so he takes them apart.

That was when he was planning part 4 and he decided to go with the Burma storyline. That's from a article I read a while back so it could just be paper talk.

Stop, Or Rambo's Mom Will Shoot!

Eurgh, Sly should leave this. It was a nice finisher to a iconic action hero but unless he's starting a personal genocide campaign it won't be welcomed. I don't want a prequel either, I don't care how he became who he was, I already know 'Nam fùcked 'em up. (And as a result cost the lives of about 500 people throughout his 26-year reign)

Would be funny though if it starts with him working on the farm with a big shìt-eating grin on his face until, unwittingly, Brain Dennehey calls to the farm looking for "a place to eat"...........cue Rambo having flashbacks and thus causing 324 & 1/2 fatality-related mischief which then results in a 32-minute finale with Rambo in a Apache Havoc and 1 giant mountain..........guess who wins! ;)

    Now that I'd see.

Rambo 5: When Rambo saved christmas

Rambo 6: Dial R for Rambo

Rambo 7: Rambo on a plane

    Why stop at 5?

    Don't jump the gun.
He said he'd be up for it.
That doesn't mean he'll do it, or be allowed to do it.

I enjoyed Rambo 4 thoroughly but I'd be more than happy if Stallone left it at that.
