Running in Dublin City?

Hi, I was hoping someone here might be able give me some advice on starting back running. I am hoping to run the Womens Mini-Marathon this June and figured it was about time to start getting fit again.

Up until last October I used to run in the gym about 3 times a week, though I found running on a treadmill to be a bit of a bore. Unfortunately I had to stop running due to wisdom teeth problems - it's hard to run when your head is aching 24/7 - and have decided that I'd rather not go back to the gym again. Am hoping to start running outdoors in the evenings after work but not sure where to go! Will have to be in the Dublin 1/2 area. Also is half an hour mix of walking/jogging too much to start off with? Am so used to being able to run consistently for 45mins but I know I'll have to lower my expectations to begin with.

Can anyone recommend any areas in the city that are safe for running? Do people run in Stephens Green?

Half an hour would be a good time to start off with and mix it with brisk walking if you need to. If you go out three times a week you will notice an improvement within three weeks.

How about the canal? It would be a great way to monitor your progress as you could keep adding a bit more on each week.

How about Dollymount strand or else the Clontarf waterfront? Lots of people run on the latter in the evening when its dark.
