Out at the end of next month entitled "Third"

    It's been a long time, but I can't wait any longer!! :)

Anyone know if there's any preview of tracks on it online?

Yeah its going to dissapoint. Opening tracks are rather boring, although it does pick up after Plastic.

You must have heard a different album, it's ****ing brilliant! Easily stands up to the quality of the first two albums.

Fantastic news! I'm a big fan of theirs, "Dummy" in particular is a cracking album.

Just heard a few tracks from it - it's nothing like the other two. No fuzzy basslines or sampling, seems a bit weird!

Could be a grower, but it was a bit underwhelming. :o

I saw them at ATP and the songs sat snuggly between the old songs. Yes they're different but in fairness it has been 10 years, if they came out with a Dummy Part 2 everyone would be complaining that they are just rehashing an old formula. And despite the new direction, it's still unmistakably Portishead.

It certainly doesn't stand up to to their debut. I doubt the most enthusiastic fan of Third would admit such a thing.

But each to his own. For me, half the album is as good as you would expect, and half the album is flat and boring.

I'm in two minds about this one. But I didn't enjoy the second album. So, I'm pretty sure the first half of Third will be a grower for me. The other half, I'm not so sure.

Had a quick look at HMV online and I don't remember there being a version of Dummy with an extra track! Cheapest place for that version is Cdwow at €8.99 and for anybody that needs Portishead the cheapest is €5.49 at Blah.

Not getting the hate for this album. Lyricly it could probably be better (some of its a bit cliche) but if Beth Gibbons was singing the phonebook id still be compelled to listen.

Sonically and musically though its the best thing ive heard since In Rainbows.

"The Rip" is amazing - the rest of the album is OK.
