hi living in louth, just bought technomate and 80 cm dish. Tried aligning dish no success so rang up an installer got a quote of €175 to out up the dish, align the satellite to receive hotbird 13 and astra 19.2, mounting brackets and cable. It seems pretty steep does anyone know satellite installer in louth area cheers

did you use a satellite meter when trying to set up the dish?. You should easily be able to locate Astr1 or hotbird with a little patience. Astra 1 is about 10 degrees west of a Sky Digital dish(astra 2 @ 28.2 east). There is no way I would pay that sort of money for a dish install if you can safely do it yourself.

You can figure out the general direction to point it using www.dishpointer.com

Just zoom in on your house and select the satellite you want. Then its trial and error time

Well tbh thats what your looking at. It does sound a tad expensive as I'd charge 150.00 but ya got to remember that it'll be covered under guarantee aswell. :D

Aligning a dish is a bit like learning to ride a bicycle - once you get it right once , it's plain sailing. Is mór an ní an fhoighne - be patient.
