Data question

    As I posted here before, I signed up for the Meteor €10 a month data add-on.

    I notice from my online bill today that I have already used three of my allocated units from the data plan, it appears that any amount of data, however little, is rounded up to the nearest whole unit.

    For example, my iPhone has checked the web three times today and according to the counter on the phone, only downloaded 2-3k. However, the three sessions are being counted as 1Mb each according to My Meteor. I suppose it is similar to the way phonecalls are charged per minute, or part-thereof.

    Is this normal? i.e. do other operators do this?

    This would be interesting to know.. as I was thinking of a jailbroken iphone on meteor and was wondering what the data packages are like. Sounds pretty terrible

    you shouldn't be getting charged for a megabyte each time, the minimum amount charged for is 1kb. call them and explain the situation.

    and calls aren't charged per minute, they're charged per second

    Prices are quoted per minute, but are charged on a per second basis.

    ROFL. Seriously. Have you tried to explain the concept of data to support people? I posted a few weeks ago about the saga in another thread and they simply couldn't understand what I was talking about. Ok, I appreciate they support phones and voice calls, but they really haven't a clue about data. Even when they escalated it to 2nd level support. The only thing they did was credit me back the €10 monthly fee, which in fairness, I can't complain about.

    Actually, I might give them a ring, for the crack and see how I get on. :D

    Ok, just rang them.

    The web is wrong, they tell me. The call-center person said I was still showing as having 250Mb left, not 247Mb according to My Meteor.

    I am a tad cynical, so we will have to wait and see.

    Keep a record of agents name / date & time of call / etc so you can get back to them after if there's problems.

    Chances are you aren't the only one complaining though if they do have a problem like this.
