    HEY

I recently bought a laptop in pcworld in liffey valley a few weeks ago, and ihave a big problem.

i bought it to use for myself, make websites, personal use etc, and of course, do recording with bands out there.

its an advent 9415, it has 4 usb hubs, vga out, power supply jacks in and out.

there was confusion in pcworld with blancherdstown and liffey valley because i had originally planned on getting the 9115.

when i went to liffeyvalley they hadnt got the 9115 but offered me the 9415 for the same price.

it was then i made the mistake in buying this laptop, because it has no express card slot, or any inputs for multitrack simultanouse recording (like thru firewire)

i know you cant multitrack through usb because its not fast enough but is there anychance PC world would exchange this for me?? not to mention the amount of times it has crashed (some blue screen appears and has to close down for no known reasons)

    nick:(:(

i think p.c. world are ok with things like this it doesn't hurt to try but instead of say you made the mistake tell them you got a friend /mother /father or so one else to pick it up and they made the mistake i've found if its someone else's fault there is more chance of getting help (the simpaty vote).

p.s. no chance of getting your money back but probly have no problem exchanging it

Good bloody luck! I'd say at best they'll give you a credit note for use in store, their not a charity and seeing as the laptops had some use already (does it have signs of use?) I don't think they'll be very helpful.

If they gave you the impression that it had express card, firewire etc., then the laptop isn't 'as described' and you're entitled to a refund or replacement.

However, if it was your own mistake (i.e. you never asked them about it's features) then you're pretty much at their mercy, they may decide to do something out of goodwill but are by no means obliged to.

And the fact that you say you've used it a good bit makes it more complicated, how old is it exactly? If you bought it more than a couple of days ago, there's very little chance anyone is going to entertain your story.

But anyway, bring it in and ask for a manager and see what happens.

I agree with Voodoo child. Go in there with that arguing point and get your money back. I dont like PC World at all. Not at all. Mail Order or nothing; theyre just a bunch of theiving middlemen.

They might allow an exchange, whatever about their refund policies they can be OK about exchanges on reasonable grounds provided the item is in perfect condition and within a certain time frame
