Nokia 5300 - Freezing on Startup

    Hi,

I have a nokia 5300 ( ya piece of crap, I know :o) and basically it now won't load up the software after being turned on. I've had this problem a while where, you turn on the phone, enter your pin, get the nokia theme music and then the screen just goes blank (white). The Battery and signal graphics are still visible but nothing else. The phone will also not turn off from this point. To turn it off I need to remove the battery.

Usually after doing this a couple of times the phone would start up ok, but since yesterday it just won't load up at all. Once it got at as far as my "desktop" but i had no options available, but other than that it just plays the nokia music then freezes.

    Any ideas?

try a hard reset, dunno if this wors on 5300 but:
hold down call key, *, 3 and power on the phone, hold buttons until asked for pin

    Cheers,

I tried that but its still the same. Should I get any message to say the hard reset was successful?

    Right,

It's after starting up for me now, but I get 'Message Storage Memory Not Ready'
when i try to open my inbox or do anything to do with messages.

My inbox had been full earlier yesterday and I deleted some messages, but then I restarted the phone as I hadn't received any messages during the day (and i knew people had sent me messages). I've googled the error message and it seems reasonably common. No solutions though!!!
I can't connect via the cable to delete messages as when i try to delete them I get an error saying the phone is not recognised.
