That's a fairly recent "flow" design model. Isn't it still under warranty?

The only thing you can do is try a "Planner Rebuild" and, if that doesn't help, erase the Hard Drive (in the secret Installer Menu).

    [services] 401 [select]

if i erase the hd will i lose all my saved programes? what is a planner rebuild?

A planner rebuild, rebuilds the recording list without (hopefully) losing any recordings.
A HD erasure erases all recordings but, as the alternative is a replacement box, it's Hobson's choice.

One other thing. Make sure there's no source of interference nearby, such as a DECT phone base or a "Snooper" radar detector in a car.

i have a few things saved like when my son was on the tv so can i back them up any way? dont have a dvd recorder or could i buy a new hd and just replace it?

there is definately no interferance nearby as i dont have a phone line anymore , the only thing near it is my computer, would that cause any interferance?

Yes, you might be able to copy your recordings:
    http://www.skycopyplus.co.uk

Failing that, the only way to keep your recordings is to send/take your Digibox for repair to someone like Kesh Electrics in C. Fermanagh.
(I have no connection with this company).

I had the same problem with my sky+ box, unfortunately it was outside warranty so had to pay €100 to get a refurbished box, which broke within a week, got another and it broke a day later! havent had any problems yet with this refurbished box! just a warning- make sure they give you a NEW box if you need one!

This is why I recommend getting them repaired properly. At least you get your own box back. The so-called "refurbished" boxes are done by "lowest quote" companies. In fact I believe they are shipping them to Poland now.

well where ever they are shipping them, someone isnt doing a proper job! id say they just plug them in and see if they work and send them back out. hence not finding any problems that are hidden or emerge after 10min!!

This is normal. Many years ago I worked in a repair department. We would get piles of equipment for repair and only one in twenty had a fault report taped to it. (And then it usually just said "dead" or something equally unhelpful). We were expected to guess what was wrong and we were allocated a maximum of 10 minutes to decide whether a job was worth fixing, a bin job or NFF (no fault found).

How many Sky installers tape a comprehensive fault report to the Digibox when taking it away?
