HI ... I am doing the same and getting a blessing in Catholic Church in Wicklow in May. I don't think we have to pay any more than about 50 quid. Can give you more details if you want

By a 'Wedding Blessing', do you mean something in a church with family or friends or just the 2 of you and a priest? Are your guests attending both the registry office and the afters?

Hi, sorry i should have made myself more clear. We're getting married in the reg office on friday and have a reception on the sunday at which we want to have a blessing in front of all our guests, it is for this that we were quoted 500 euro for a ten minute blessing they said we can have a hour and it will still the same cost........has anyone done something similar, i've heard of ppl get close friends or family to read out a short poem!!!

hi, as i've said before i've spoke to two revs and one wanted 1500 euro and the day at my wedding and drinks and taxis paid for the other guy wanted 500 euro(irishweddingblessings.net), do the blessing and that's it. We're thinking of just have friends read a short piece and leave it at that, the hotel at which we're celabrating said this has been done there on several occasions..........

    Brobref:

Some friends of mine did exactly the same as you. They decided they didn't want to do the 'whole church thing'. So they had a registry office ceremony on the Friday with family and a few very close friends. But they decided not to exchange rings at the ceremony. They then had a simple ceremony at the reception venue where they did exchange rings on the Sunday with nearly 200 guests and had the wedding reception afterwards. The got a friend (not a priest or any religious person) to lead the reception ceremony and they decided what they wanted in it

gives these guys a call http://www.humanism.ie/contact.html#ceremony we had one of their celebrants do our wedding in jan and he was excellent and organised, everyone said the ceremony was great etc etc , and i don' think i paid 300 quid for it either, but whatever it was it was worth every penny
