Elgato EyeTV 250+ on Mac

Just wondered if anybody has managed to set up an Elgato eyetv 250+ successfully?

I cannot get a signal on my computer? Heres what i have tried, sorry for the long post but i just wanted to give as much detail as possible.

I have connected the eyetv to my Mac mini (OSX 10) via the usb 2.0 cable. The Source is a Sagem TV box supplied by Chorus. The cable connecting my Chorus box to the Elgato eyetv is component (Red, yellow, White) at one end and scart at the other. The scart connection is plugged into the VCR out socket (scart) on the tv box and the component end is plugged into the Mac mini via the adapter cable supplied with the eyetv. I have tried all the input options in the controls tab; e.g. composite, s-video, game, tuner. However, I cannot get a signal. I have reinstalled the software and checked all the connections, cables and power supplies etc. but there is still no signal. I have rerun the eyetv setup assistant several times and tried to do an exhaustive scan in the tuner mode (even though I am not connecting with an analogue cable, I tried it anyway) I have also tried connecting the scart plug to the TV-out on the Chorus box and still nothing? I have searched online on the Elgato website and various forums but I can't find a solution I email Elgato and got a standard response........ Has anybody got any ideas?

Did you try the supplied aerial, stick it to a window and you might get some digital test signals. I got a 250+ at Christmas and connected it to my NTL cable, picture is absolutely rubbish. However when it picks up a digital test signal (RTE1) the picture is incredible but the software crashes after a minute or so. Very disappointed with the 250+, has been sitting on my desk unused since new year.

Have never been able to pick up anything satisfactory on this piece of hardware. Disappointed given its capabilities.

I having been searching high and low on how to connect my digital box(UPC) to my Elgato Eyetv 250+. Eventually I solved it. I had to buy a composite to composite cable (red, white and yellow to red, white and yellow) and then connect a scart adapter to one end of the composite cable. Its works for me.

I was told a scart to composite would do find but it didnt.

the analogue NTL picture is terrible.

i can connect it to the digibox, but theres a pause of about 4 seconds when changing channel, volume etc. it doesent sound like much but when ur uste to it happening instantly its a lot.

    Hey John Player

yeah mine can be slow enough alright, changing channel, volume etc. I set the volume on the box and then use the Mac to adjust volume up or down. I dont know why this is slow to be honest.

I have my digital box and analog from NTL working on my Mac through the eyetv 250+. It could be the signal coming through your cable. There was an issue with the signal into my room and NTL sorted it out. So maybe try NTL or if someone else could help you.

The only small thing though is that when I start up eyetv for the first few minutes the colors are a bit funky. It sorts itself out. Red things go kind of green but its fine after a while. I am happy enough with how its going though.
