Online health expense claim - how long?

    Hi all,

quick question - usually I claim my health expenses using the good old paper and envelope approach. That usually took revenue about 2 weeks max to process.

This year, I thought I'd get with the program and do it online - I've sent off the online form at the beginning of February, and it does not look like anyone has actually looked at the form I submitted...(I'm not even going to give out about the state of that site....intuition and ease-of-use somehow does not feature...)

Has anyone else tried submitting their claims online, and can anyone tell me how long it took? Is it worth ringing Revenue and ask?

    Cheers

    galah

The system is new so expect teething problems.

I would ring the PAYE helpline and see if it has been allocated. 1890 333 425.

Medical expenditure is a credit against PAYE paid so if you have heard nothing back maybe you were not entitled to a refund?

Nope, I know I'm entitled to a refund - my health expenses were massive last year, and ever since they abolished the first 125 Euros, I should definitely get a refund.

But thanks for the tip -I'll give them another week, and then I'll give them a shout. (I just thought I'd check here first - no point in pestering the government and keep them from doing their job ;-))

I did it and took a short while to get the passwords etc but entered the details and the money was in the bank within a week or so

    Very painless

hm, starting to get concerned now - haven't got a confirmation, and could not specify a bank account etc - maybe there's something wrong...

    I'll ring them and check.

    cheers!
