    not really "advice" - but here: on my vodafone's n95/8 and on my old e61 the gmail apps only works with vodafone isp... Don't ask ME why!
    Also: why not bookmark your gmail account in opera mini - it's fast and it works with live!

    if you do the following, it should work:

    settings->configuration->personal configuration settings->add->access point

    account name: vodafone isp apn
    go into access point settings
    data bearer:gprs (or packet data)
    go into bearer settings
    GPRS access point:isp.vodafone.ie
    authentication type:normal
    username:vodafone
    password:vodafone

    settings->configuration->personal configuration settings

    highlight vodafone isp apn and press options->activate

    there's a peculiarity with some nokias that java apps on them only use the preferred access point regardless of your internet settings and on those phones the preferred access point wasn't designed to use proxies so basically as far as i can see, java apps have to use an access point that doesn't use a proxy such as vodafone isp. also, while the gmail site works fine on an n95 i don't think it'll work well on a 6300

    and you should know that the 99c a day deal is only valid on the live apn so you'll be paying 2c per kb to get your email. if you go into the option to add a new access point and you can see an option for a proxy address and port, post back and i'll give you a guide for the cheaper settings

    Thanks Sam - it worked a treat ,now you I will need the cheaper settings please!!!! ;)
    I had opera mini on the phone before but i could never get it work with the live apn - i think that many people had this problem as well.
    I found opera mini great to use but it was killing me on internet access charges so I cant use it anymore.

    Thanks again.

    Sam, it looks like I can set up a proxy option on the 6300 - could you tell me the settings to use. At the moment it is costing between 11 and 20 cent to access the gmail application.
    thanks in advance

    Sam, thanks for all that. I'm trying to use the gmail app, along with some fine cabaal apps! I've done all you prescribe here, but I get the message "Subscribe to packet data first". Is this an account setting? I talked to Vodafone and they said 'get a new handset, as your current one can't handle packet data' - it's a 3110 classic, perfectly capable of handling packet data, as all the apps work on it, and it has a setting in the data connections called "Packet Data!!"

    Any help appreciated...
