I'm planning to run the mini marathon on june 2nd as my first ever race would it be crazy to try to do the docklands run on may 20th too? I'm currently running for about 3km on my long runs....

    Or here:

    Athletics forum.

It depends on your level of fitness, and the time between races. The docklands race is 8k, so you could aim to do it as a long training run.

No reason at all not to do both. I know people who do multi-day trail races where they cover up to 200km over mixed terrain in 5 days, or others who run "the Triple", which is three marathons in three days (Snowdownia, Beachy Head and Dublin if I rem rightly). I know that's a different thing to what you are planning but there are no physical reasons it can't be done!

It will really all depend on how much you put into the first run. The harder you run a race the longer it takes to recover, take the first one easy, take a couple of days off and you'll be grand in the second.

I just thought it was more a general fitness question rather than a marathon?

The marathon forum also covers shorter road races. The Athletics forum is also a good spot for general running stuff.

This is probably a crucial point in that you need to increase this a fair bit over time (which you have loads of). An 8k and 10k race within 12 days is probably ok but since you are novice to the game and only running 3km at the moment it wouldn't be advisable. Get your miles up between now and then and you'll have a better indication closer to the time.
