    Hi there,

As the title says, what happens to my tax credits if I start work in March, not having worked for Jan or Feb? Are the years allowance divided between the remaining months or what?

    Thanks for reading!

As far as i know they will be added to your tax credits for your first months wage. If you still have soem left over they will be carried to your next months.

So lets say its 12 a month

    12 + 12 = 24 (Jan + Feb)

You work march and use 30 tax credits

    12 + 12 + 12 = 36 (JAn + Feb + March)

    36 - 30 = 6 (What you have - minus what you use)

April you will have 18 tax credits (12 +6)

    Thats my understanding anyway.
